I am Leigh Ellwood and I write erotica and erotic romance. In the last two months I had new releases from Decadent Publishing (A Different Class) and Ellora’s Cave (Sugar Rush). My Decadent story is M/M and my EC story is F/F. You might ask yourself, “Isn’t it unusual for an author to write different pairings?”
In short: probably. I’ve seen it happen, but I think I’m more diverse than others.
At the beginning of the year, I had resolved to write more. What author doesn’t do that? Yes. I went a bit further in that, though, by pledging to write stories as they came to me, regardless of genre or pairing. Forrest Gump says like is a box of chocolates – you never know what you’re going to get. Me, I love chocolate and like to pick from the box at random. I love readers who do the same.
In January I resolved to write the following. It’s July, and here’s how I’ve done:
One F/F romance novella – written and published – get links here
One M/M short – written and published – get links here
One M/F serial with a BBW heroine – still working
One short with a transgender heroine – still working
One could argue I am “hitting for the cycle” here. In baseball, this term defines when a batter is able to hit a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game. It’s a rare accomplishment, but it happens – most recently in the MLB in 2012. As a writer, I strive to offer readers a variety of stories and pairings. I could eventually settle with one style like many authors do, but I suffer from horrible plot bunnies – some ideas require a specific pairing. For me, hitting for the cycle would mean publishing romances with different pairings: a hetero couple, a same-sex couple, a menage.
It looks like I’m off to a good start, though. I just need a good menage idea. Even then, do I go MFM, MMF…?
