I’d led a selfish existence.

I liked who I was. Hell, I loved myself.

Women threw themselves at me and I took what they offered without remorse. I promised them nothing.

I sank my teeth into life, holding on to the bitch like my very existence depended on it.

Time passed.

Women came and went.

The second I let my guard down and released the hold I had on life… What was my award for such carelessness?

A love so spectacular and heart wrenching that it threw me for a loop. When I was in too deep to escape, my greatest fears became reality.

This is my story.

My downfall.

My salvation.

I have been following this series and I was ready to see the hero Anthony Gallo fall, I knew he would need an interesting heroine.

His heroine was Max, she was independent and also vehemently against permanent romantic attachments. In fact she did not have the time of day to spare for our hero who was used to women not only falling at his feet but throwing their prone naked bodies at his crouch. It was nice to see the heroine give him the hell nah. Unfortunately she worked my last nerve the first few chapters, I could tell she wanted him but she kept fighting it. I wanted to DNF this so many times but I am glad I held on. Take my advice, you might feel like putting this one down but the heroine does have a reason for pushing him away so hard and when you realize the reason you will be all aww.  Then when you realize she is not even sure you will be like aww d$%n, you kind of getting on my nerves again, but it gets good again!

And exciting news for those of us who like poc in our reads the heroine is black, which makes for interesting conflict because she tries to use that to push the hero away (not in a creepy way, it is actually funny).

Thanks, I tried. The back and forth drives me nuts. I mean dude was hot and your type and chasing you. Sometimes you got to just stop running and think for a minute. Good dudes do not just fall off trees at least not in NC!
